Remnants of Amboyna Burl from the Heirloom Box
were used on this tiny project. The burl is an amazing specimen,
cherished by one of history's furniture design greats, Émile-Jacques
Ruhlmann. |

A collection of woods were used throughout the piece. Maple made up the body, walnut was used to spline the miters, holly and ebony sandwich the Brazilian rosewood banding which I made myself. The hard to find rosewood was also used on the case corners as well as the feet. |

A
set of four tiny bun feet were turned all at once. It is important to
give bun feet a bit of "squish" to make the case appear to have weight.
Too round and the case will appear to want to float away. |
The Treasure Box is made of Maple, Amboyna Burl, Brazilian Rosewood, Holly and Ebony. It is lined with Mohair Velvet and is finished with boiled linseed oil, shellac and paste wax. |
