The
entire credenza was built from one set of lumber that all
came from the same tree. The top two boards are a
bookmatch, and the entire piece has a wonderful
consistency of color. |

The
door and side panels are all fielded and raised. The
molding that lines the panels is part of the frame and not
attached after the fact. Each door and drawer is
lined with a bead, and the hinges of the doors are the
same thickness of this bead- which hides them nicely on
the case. |

• The
dovetails on the drawers are cut by hand. It is only
possible to create such tight pins by cutting the joint
this way. The knobs are all turned by hand as
well. The central knobs are slightly smaller than
the outer ones, giving the credenza a touch of extra
dimension. |

The
piece sits on a cove molded base, whose projection is
equal to that of the top edge of the piece. This
gives the credenza good overall visual balance. |
The Lilly Credenza is
made of American Black Cherry, all cut from one
tree. The internals are made of poplar and include
adjustable shelves behind each door. It is finished
with boiled linseed oil, multiple coats of waterlox
varnish, and paste wax. |
