The
maple chairs are adorned with walnut accents. Pyramid plugs dress
the chairs and in the case of the read leg, hide the two large screws
which hold the seat to the legs. |

The
seat is rough carved on a CNC machine, then finished by hand with a
travisher and scraper. The front corner is then rounded to ease
the pressure on the back of the sitters thighs. |
The
Lakeview chairs were a joint design effort between myself and the
client. Taking note from Nakashima and well as Windsor
construction the clean and modern design is a hybrid of styles.
Simple and well executed details make this an extraordinary
chair. My favorite detail is the slight curvature of the walnut
splats, which are cut from one wide board to simplify the wood grain
image. Made of Sugar Maple with Black Walnut accents. Finished
with linseed oil, Waterlox varnish, and wax. Photos of the chairs in the making... ![]() Lakeview Chairs and Table In Situ |
