The strong figure of a beautiful set of flame birch boards is on display here.  This is a tricky wood to work, but with a bit of extra effort the results are worth it.

The table base is made of hard maple, painted with a series of dyes and milk paints to give the final finish some complexity.  The legs are canted outwards at 1.5° to give a sturdy braced look.  This is also to help match the design to the Windsor Bowback chairs made to go along with this piece.

The Colorado Table is made of Flame Birch and Hard Maple.  Earlier in the year I harvested a few Chagga mushrooms from the nearby woods to make a medicinal tincture.  In the process you are left with a bit of liquid that is an incredibly strong brownish/orange color.  I used this as a dye on the table, and it was species appropriate too.  Chagga grows primarily on Birch trees.

I finished the table with a handful of coats of oil based varnish.

The Colorado Table was designed to pair with these Bowback Windsor Chairs.
