The hand holds allow one to lift off the tray, which fits flush on top of the bread box .
The sides of both the tray and bread box are joined using a through compound angle dovetailed joint. The sloped sides make for difficult joinery that require more steps than a standard straight sided box.

Made of reclaimed Chestnut with American Elm bottoms. This was a quick work in order to cover the issues that arise when dovetailing at a compound angle. Finished with linseed oil, padded shellac and wax. It was given to my good friends Chris and Mia for their wedding in 2012.
